Day 22: A Full Work Day & More About My Lifestyle Design

Today Chef Alexandra and I worked out a deal for building a website for her. Her growing business of cooking workshops and private catering requires some web representation. Today I spend most of the day at her place working on her site which I have committed to having built by the 28th. When it comes to building sites, I build them fast! Being involved with internet business for so long now, one of the most common mistakes that people make is to take too long to put up a site. This is usually because they focus more on the beauty and flashiness of the site vs the actual functionality to the end user. I have built some sites that generate a whole lot of business and they don’t look very pretty. Others look very pretty but do nothing but come with a hefty sticker price. There are exceptions to the rule of course, but it’s better to have something up then to not have anything at all.

Yesterday I talked about the importance of building social networks. One of the easiest ways to do this is to provide a service in which you deliver excellent work for an excellent client and get some quality referrals. I personally do not operate like a typical business. I do not want a lot of business. I am more interested in building networks and I only do work for the people I choose to do work for. I have had offers for work and deals that I have rejected because I found that there was no benefit outside the immediate quick financial gain. The right clients are also part of powerful networks and doing a good job for a right client helps you extend your offers to a greater caliber of referrals on their network.

Part of lifestyle design is your ability to build an income source that sustains your lifestyle in a way that you love what you do even when it comes to the work. I love all my clients. I have picked who I work with and who I do work for . Over the last 2.5 years, this network of clients and referrals have provided me all the resources I need to make lifestyle design a reality. In turn, I am motivated to deliver top notch quality work to them. This is the way business should be done in my opinion. Forget about getting a lot of clients, just get the right ones. Since I spent most of the day in the presence of Chef Alexandra working on her site, I enjoyed a great balance of food, friendship and work in beautiful Playa Del Carmen. Thanks for reading!
